ART-E: ARTificial Expressions

How does creativity change when a robot learns its own brush strokes?

How will our creativity and working environment change in the era of human-machine intelligence?

Participants: Kim Yejin, Song Junbong, Kim Minyoung, Lee Dohyeok, Kim Mansu, Seo Seongwook

โ€œCopythatโ€ is a gathering of technologists and artists who have come together to explore ways to collaborate with non-human entities such as machines, systems, and artificial intelligence in what was traditionally considered uniquely human capabilities of creativity and labor.

This research platform, composed of experts from diverse backgrounds, has observed various artificial intelligence methodologies applied in robot action planning, motion control, and image creation through regular internal workshops. They have been experimenting with widely discussed artificial intelligence discourses from technical, industrial, and artistic perspectives, aiming to explore new creative and labor environments in a society where human and machine intelligence coexist.

At the 2023 ZER01NE Day, the results of their research process will be presented in the form of archival materials, interactive robots, photographs, videos, and more. Among the projects involving three ZER01NE Creators and external technical experts. Yejin examines the concept of changing creativity by researching how AI conceptualizes and applies to robot drawing.

Junbong experiments with optimizing the movement of collaborative robot arms in industrial settings and explores intuitive shared experiences between humans and machines in evolving working environments.

Kim Minyoung experiments with creating โ€œfake performancesโ€ by exploring the relationship between events and records using artificially generated images capable of hyper-realistic depictions. These interdisciplinary studies provide a tangible glimpse into the near future of artificial intelligence and prompt contemplation on meaningful intersections that humans and machines should create within the rapidly changing technological environment.
